Lauri McKean
Lauri grew up in Southwestern Colorado and graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 1994 with a B.A in Women’s Studies. Her varied work experience includes organic farming, carpentry, anti-sexual assault work, childcare, and sustainable food and farming education. Additionally, she has over fifteen years of Taiji (Tai Chi) and qigong experience including seven years of teaching at one of the oldest Taiji Centers in the nation. She is a certified instructor in a variety of these forms including qigong from the Ling Gui International Healing Qigong School and the Tai Chi Fundamentals Program. The latter program was developed by Tricia Yu, author of Tai Chi: Mind and Body and has been taught to and used by physical and occupational therapists throughout the country. Lauri was Tricia Yu’s teaching and business assistant for many years.
Lauri’s strengths include being a effective instructor, presenter, and Shiatsu bodywork practitioner; working with children; and her qigong/Taiji experience and certifications. Her life experience is very broad and thus she can easily negotiate a variety of settings and people while being able to understand differing perspectives. She is very giving, nurturing, grounded, and practical. Her hobbies and interests include gardening, hiking, snowshoeing, childhood development and cooking.
